Got to disagree regarding the halogen heater. We have a 3 bar (1200W) unit that pivots on a stand and it is fantastic in out trailer unit. Switches off if knocked over so as safe as you can get.
We also have a fan heater which is great for 'drying out' but can leave the air dry if we ever get reasonable weather.
Have a gas heater too but that is only used when not on hook-up. Screws on top of a 907 bottle and sits in the sink so can't get knocked over.
You won't get better value than £5 from Tesco tho'

Boo hoo. Tescos at Ashby were bereft of value fan heaters. In fact the lady I asked looked at me gone out. Obviously thinking why the hell do you need a fan heater this time of year. I have now made it my mission to trawl every single Tescos until I find one lol! (SAD!)
I had the same thing in Wickes!
Found one heater that said on the web available in store only, and another that said website temporarily out of stock. We went down there only to be looked at rather strangely, and told these things are only around in the winter! Wish they'd tell you that on the website!
We got rid of the halogen and bought the best fan heater that we could afford with a built in thermostat. We set it to a lowish temperature on a night and just leave it switched on, if it drops cold during the night the heater comes on, if it gets warm it knocks off, just what a wrinkly like me needs.

We put our towels in the car to dry, draped over the back of the seats. The warmth in the car has them dry much quicker than in the tent.
That sounds like a good idea Taviour, thanks.
As for the £5 heater, cant find them in this area. If there are any out there, can someone please let me know? Thanks.
Argos do a nice 1 made by delonghli £24.99 its occilating and it has a thermostat..im going to buy 1 tomorrow as we are going camping on sunday and its freezing outside at night.
Hi all.
The trouble with halogen heat is that it only heats solids and does not heat air, they are fine to use if one person is cold and the other is hot,it will only heat the person sat in front of it.
Regards
Rex.
May have made a mistake on this quote the radiated heat may warm the walls there for heat the room

No probs Breeze,I bought it today and we go camping on sunday till friday, and with this weather i think we will deffo use it, Im so glad i made my tent carpet too as its gonna be really wet if this rain persists eh
well its not cheap but you can get a hot water blanket that runs on gas, to use in a tent. www.thehotone.co.uk i have one for when i go fishing in the winter and it gives a nice 60c heat. if you say me (floppy) told you , you might get a bit off if you email him before ordering.
i used a convecter heater 2kw 17 quid from argos it was light and really helped us during the windy rainy storms we had whilst camping this week plus i used a fridge and a light at the same time i coudnt recommend it enough..
Hi Floppy, not sure about that one! But thanks for the heads up.
Want the heater to help dry out towels and dogs - especially dogs, as well as keep warm (getting soft in my old age!). 2 wet hairy dogs in a tent..... lovely!
Also, getting confused. What is best halogen or fan heater?
hi I know you're all talking about heating in a tent but we have a trumatic 200s heater in our camper we don't have instructions to light it can anyone help
