Aren't windbreaks supposed to be flush with the ground?  Ours has quite a gap - are we doing something wrong?

The poles have spikes at each end.  The only way we could bang it in more would to submerge the pole itself.  The fabric seems to want to hook onto the top spike, which is what makes it too high, but surely if we didn't do that, it would slide down?

This is more trouble than the tent...

Our Outwell winbreak poles spikes just rest in the ground (don't knock them in or you'll lose the spike) and it's the guy ropes that keep it up!

I can't remember if there's  a gap on ours will be using them this weekend!

Now that I think of it, our Outwell windbreaks don't sit flush on the ground either. Oddly, I was thinking about this myself the other day... Next time I might have the poles at an angle and peg the bottom of the groundsheet vertically so that they touch the ground (imagine a triangle made up of: pole/windbreak/groundsheet).

If this daft idea actually works then I'll try to remember to take a picture and post it in here!

Just come back from trip with force 6 winds!

They stood up well! I have 2 guys on one end the one on each of the poles and for some reason (last camping trip idea) 3 on the other end.

there is a gap at the bpttom but wasn't very much.
