can anyone recommend a solution to blowing up our airbeds quickly?  We are fed up of foot pumps, but unfortunately our cigarette lighter on our car is broken, and it looks like a lot of the electric pumps plug into these.

Reviews on Amazon seem to suggest that the power source/electric pack/jump start thingummyjigs are rubbish, otherwise we'd consider one of those - does anyone know of any that work?

We have no electric hookup cable - would it be worth investing in one of these and we might find a use for it with other things as well? (we're in a tent).

Rechargeable pumps might be alright, but one of the ones we looked at said you were supposed to recharge it within 48 hrs of using it, which we obviously wouldn't be able to do if camping for more than a weekend.

Not sure where to go from here.  We are going camping next week, so this is bad organisation by me as usual...

either fit a new cigarette lighter or cut the plug of the airpump, separate the wires and put bulldog clips on them, then clip those to the battery

Hi - Welcome to UKCS

We have one of these battery operated pumps (4 D batteries) and they blow up our Ready Beds really quickly. They come with about 4 different fittings so one should fit your airbed.

Hope this helps (sorry the links so long don't know how to change it)

We've got a powerstation power source/electric pack/ jumpstart thingummyjig and the pump on it isn't very good, great for footballs and bike tyres, but far too noisy and slow for airbeds. When we were trying our new airbeds out OH used an electric pump plugged into the powerstation and it worked great. Bit of an expensive way to pump them up though if you have to get both.
