We have several lights that we take camping with us, all battery operated, but none that are really bright. Does anyone know of a good light which will light up the whole tent well enough to read by?
The coleman duel fuel lamp is fantastic. the brightest camping light i know. We use this in the living area.Put it on a shepards crook for outside. we use the ufo lights(got from a recomendation from this forum) are great for bedrooms and can be got from poundland. Get one for everyone at that price!!!!!
Gas or petrol/dual fuel lamps give out the most light. I use gas because I find them to be safer and more convenient than petrol/dual fuel, although others may dsagree.
I have tried various electric lamps, both battery and EHU powered, but none can match the light from my gas lamps. The heat emitted from the gas lamp has the added bonus of making a heater unnecessary in the tent on chilly evenings.
A couple of ufo lights lit our huge tent up like blackpool.
we used the poundshop ones with kodak AAbatteries 12 for a £1 , which lasted all weekend and into the second and third weekend too, although they did start dimming on the 3rd weekend . but as each light takes 4 aAA batteries, £1 for a week or so for each light is cheap as chips

The flouruescent one looks good, price good etc but slight problem as we don't have an electric hook up!

Taviour we had a fluroescent similar in looks and price. It was brilliant the 1st night and wouldn't turn on after that. Were we just unlucky?
It would say you were just unluck. We haev had ours for about 6 years and not had a problem.
