I've been reading through all the posts on this thread and its certainly made me think twice about buying a £15 cable on ebay!!

Something that I wasn't sure about was the mention by HairyRod of a RCD plug for £5.  Are you able to send me a link to where I can buy this?  Just wanted to check before I go and spend £50 on a 3 plug socket kit.

Ours is the same as Roys, spend your £50ish once on a good one, just make sure it's 25 mts long and your sorted.
