Do you think it's only fit for the children in the garden as a play tent?

No idea, but I do tend to work on the basis if it's something I can only find on Ebay and not in any bona fide camping stores then there is probably a reason for that!

Hi There is is pop -up tents available and made by reputable companies and yes they are sold in good camp shops, hope this helps !!

Don't know about the tent you've mentioned but my daughter has a "quechua" pop up tent for the past year (you can get them at Halfords) and has had no problems whatsoever. Double skinned and plenty of room -she's slept in a force 8 wind and heavy rain - no probs. Just remember how to fold it back down.....

We have got a pop up tent too and they are great!
we use it for overnight stops when we cant be bothered to put up the awning with the annex.

the only thing is they are very small so storage can be an issue, I think some newer pop ups are a bit bigger and offer a porch type area so I would gofor that if you can.
Make sure you practice putting it down as it ca be really tricky until you get the hang of it. Watch carefully as it unfolds the first time!

Let's not get confused...there is nothing at all wrong with pop up tents as a concept. The Decathlon range are fantastic. I've not tried others but the Gelert gets good reports on here.

The question is about this pop up tent. If you google Magic Marquee you can find another ad for them but to my mind there isn't enough detail. No HH rating - just 150 denier (I'm sure my tights are thicker than that!) - whatever that means and no dimensions on the MM site.

We have had two of the Gelert pop-up tents (a three berth and a two berth) for the past 12 months. They have just been used for a full 2 week holiday in Suffolk by the kids and the three berth is currently at the V Festival in Stafford. Excellent tents plenty of room and ideal for us with the quick erection leaving us free to do the other setting up required.

I've got a mate uses one in Anglesey on a regular basis. His camping buddies are pretty sick of him throwing the tent out of the car then sitting down with a beer whilst they struggle with their old Force 10's.

We've got 2 quechua pop up tents and they're brilliant - they stood up to thunderstorms with no problem.

This tent works in the same way as one I bought from Tesco's a couple of year ago - sort of like opening a fold up umbrella. It was a bit tricky the first couple of times but we soon got the hang of it. It was a good tent, waterproof, but we never used it in windy weather so I don't know about that.

We have a Kyam tent which erects like an unbrella, very quick to put up and take down & easy to pack up too. It's very stable in wind/wet weather. We have used it for my teenage son & friend on seaside sites on north Cornwall coast, and it was still intact after a week of weather & teenage boys!
As to pop-up tents, the feedback seems to be good, however we have a quencha (Decathlon) 'pop up' beach shelter and have only used it twice, as both times it collapsed at the mearest hint of a wind, so no good unless you're in the Med in mid summer & no breeze!
We'd love a beach shelter which is quick to erect and stands up to a good old British summer gale! If anyone can recommend one please let us know!
