We have a Nissan Murano 4x4 and need to invest in a roof bag/box.  Like the look of the Thule Ranger Halfords have, are they as good/better than the standard roof boxes?

Any recommendations please? What have you got?

Thanks :)

i have a halfords 470lt roofbox purchased in the sale for half price ..it takes a full awning with poles and ground sheet with inner tent and other small stuff easily ..it sits on a thule roof rail attached to my car rails ..i only use it if i'm taking the family 4-5 adults 2 grandkids as the extra clothes weight taken  goes in the caravan ..i'm well pleased with it but it is awkward to take off as i have a tall 4x4 and as i'm just a little fella i have to use steps

We've got a Thule Ranger 90. Can get plenty in but only lightweight stuff. Excellent if you can't store a box as it rolls up into a bag same size as an awning.

Cannot be used when emty though!!

I have the Carnopy Roof Sack, folds up into a nice compact storage bag when not in use, thing I like about it most is being able to pack it indoors then lift it on the roof, same when unpacking, undo it and take it in the tent, saves getting wet through.
There just as good as a standard box but for the locking, hard boxes are OK if you have somewhere to store them, and preferably flat, they can warp if you store them on their end
