We're looking to kit out our teenager ready for camping next year (hoping to pick things up in end of season sales or on ebay), was going to go this year but the weather and lack of suitable equipment put paid to that.

We're off to a camping suppliers tomorrow or Monday to have a look aroud in general and at tents in particular (need to try and sort out what type of tent to buy).

Bearing in mind that the kit will need to be able to be transported without personal transport, we could do with ideas/suggestion/advice as to what we will need to be thinking about getting. I've delt with the cooker on another thread but would be most grateful for your input. I'm thinking about the WHOLE KIT AND KABOODLE not just the major stuff.

Thanks in advance for your help.

We bought a bottle in a camping shop recently. It has measurements on it so can also be a jug. Inside was a tin opener/bottle opener/knife in one, some pegs, a bag, a torch and a few other bits I can' t remember but worth looking out for. It was about £7 but may be cheaper in sales.

Just found it listed on Ebay....

I assume by this you mean it all goes in one bag, and they're travelling public transport.

With some thought and careful packing you should be able to get everything you need for a weeks wild camping INSIDE a 60L rucksack... If you can't get it all in, you're taking too much unwanted stuff.
Typical kit inculdes... 1-2 man tent, sleeping bag, mat, stove, fuel, food, cooking stuff, water, full waterproofs, spare clothes, wash kit, towel, first aid kit, torch, maps, compass, camera etc..
