Hi Elaine

Are you planning to run it from your lesiure battery ?

If running a TV from EHU then there is no need to buy a 12v one. A 240v Modern flat screen TV's uses sooo little ampage there is no need for a special 12v one for a caravan

Hi Elaine I bought a 12v + 240v which looks like a laptop, it also is a DVD player has freeview, will take a SD card and has 300 games 11.4 inch screen I use it with an Aldi sat setup and it lasts a good 4 days off an 85 amp battery. I would highly recommend it and it came from a company called wedodigital or I have seen it for sale on ebay for £169 + Pp.

I assuming you are suggesting it is also run through an inverter if the OP is not on EHU?

Some LCD tv's will run from 12 volts, by unplugging the PSU, but not all of them. LCD's are very sensitive to voltages and a lesiure battery is likely to be more than 12 volts when fully charged. This will either mean the TV will not work (as is the case with mine) or that it will work, but the high voltage will be damaging the internal components and it will fail relatively quickly.

When running on 12 volts, a TV (even an LCD tv) will flatten the battery within a few hours, particularly if using an inverter.

As has been said above, the voltage in a caravan can fluctuate as the battery discharges or even if someone runs a tap.  Some lcd tvs are designed to accomodate this.  If not then you need a device like this.

Hi
Dont rush to buy an expensive 12 volt TV.
Most TFT screen TV run off 12 volt through a converter.
You just require a lead from the 12 volt source and the plug to fit the TV.
Regards
Rex.
