Hi all

1st post so here goes, I am wondering if anybody can tell me how much gas a 3 way fridge would use roughly over say a 1 week period?? We have just returned from a 2 week stay in saint Augustine in france and I felt that we really could have done with a fridge! I dont want to go down the EHU route really as I like to be independant so thinking of getting  a small 3 way.

Thanks in advance

I have a combicool cab 40 3way fridge. Mine lasted for just over 2 weeks on a campingaz 907 bottle.

A 907 is smaller and more expensive to refill than a calorgas 4.5kg bottle, but if using abroad, campingaz is widely available and calor is not.

welcome to the site btw

Thanks for that

I run calor at the mo and if a 4.5kg will last me around 2weeks I'd be happy ! I took 2 x 4.5's to france to run a coleman cooker and a bar-b-q and came back with about half a bottle so I'll up the size of one to a 7.5kg and I should be sorted.

Thanks again

We use the Combicool 40 on 5kg BP Gas Light and found that we stilll had a bit left after a long weekend break plus a 15 night main camping holiday.

We run the fridge on maximum 24 hours a day and I reckon 5kg would last a good 21 nights or three weeks from full.

We like BP Light because you can see what's left through the fibreglass and by the end of the year will be stocked in every BP station (apparently) and most HomeBases. It is also meant to become widely available across Europe and if that's the case will made expensive old CampingGaz obsolete.

The gas consumption should be marked somewhere on the fridge - usually on a panel on the back of the appliance. Mine uses something like 14.5g per hour on the high setting. (if i remember correctly - it's stored in the attic at the moment!).

We usually run it on EHU but have used gas for a 7 night stay in Brittany before.

We used a campingaz 907 which was also used to run the cooker and lasted no problem.

We notice that the fridge seems to work better on gas than either 12v or 230/240v.

I agree... I've noticed that I get more ice forming when it's on gas... must heat the ammonia liberation device better than the electric element.

Wow... that's late in the season for such a purchase! Was it a bargain?

Anyhooooo... I hope you save enough pennies for a good 3-way... and a fridge
