You can prolong the life of your generator by only using fresh unleaded, not more than a month old and never storing fuel in the stove as it will separate and gunk blocks the generator. Coleman makes its own expensive additive free, clean fuel which won't block the geny. Aspen make an simmilar but more affordable fuel, search for a stockist near you here

I live in Birmingham if that helps.
As you have guessed, there's your problem.
Although it works, you should try to avoid using unleaded, the additives that are needed for the modern internal combustion engine eventually %&$ at up your generator.
Aspen 4T, works a treat in anything that burns Coleman Fuel, won't clog your stove or lantern, and is better for your health and the environment than unleaded.
Give it a try, I doubt if you'll go back to using unleaded.
