What's the best way to go about watching tv in a tent? I was thinking of buying a portable or lcd tv and using an internal aerial but will that only work for analogue and be redundant when the switch over happens or is an indoor aerial good enough to pick up freeview?

Skippy

We have tried the built in aerial approach and to be honest found it a waste of time, you have to be in a good area to get even a poor signal.

So will be trading up to a flatscreen (nice one in Asda for £80 though not freeview) and buying a fold flat external aerial which will mount on the poles of my tent extension nicely, dont watch it that often but it keeps the kids occupied at those inevitable down times.

I suppose if you got a freeview one it would work Ok with an external aerial if the signal was strong enough.

we just go through a second hand sagem 240v/12 set top box.
as said above though a decent aerial is needed and like home some places will never get a decent digital signal just as theres holes in mobile phone reception.
dont waste your money on anysized 1080p HD tellies with freeveiw installed freeveiw isnt HD so another bit of kit will be needed to get HD on your telly

just remember to keep the volume low - the TV sound seems to travel like no other sound!

I make OH use headphones.  Personally I like to get away from the TV when camping.

I tend to use my 17" laptop, TV card, but best of all, I load up my ripped DVD's into Mediacentre and have them stored as a library.

The wife won't let me bring the surround sound system though, not sure why????
