can anyone please tell 1st time oldies using the rage alta 6 tent - do the bottom flaps remain outward or tuck inside, also, on the "skirts" there are what looks like tie backs, what are these for ?, any help - thanks
We allways peg the flaps out so any water runs away from the bottom of the tent.I have heard others peg the flaps under. You will probably hear peeps do it both ways.
The tieback/toddles are there to tie up the skirts , really good when its hot and allows air to circulate.
Hi "surfin" many thanks, sounded silly suppose about the tiebacks, but belive it or not, we are oldies coming back to tents and actually selling our motorhome ( partner can't drive it if anything happens to me) so your help is invaluable. great - thanks.
did not know of any similar tent, as money is VERY tight with us we looked on different sites about tents and saw the rage and how easy it was to put up ( very important to us) then saw it on ebay, got it for £60. we camp a lot - summer (don't laugh) camp in uk (all over) then out of season into and around europe ( never spending more than £10.50 p/n on any site all in. so now looking forward to using the tent !!!!. hence our questions. thanks
had many "wet" ones ( although snug in a motorhome) now to be tested in a tent but will not give up camping - its our only little pleasure, as for kids, well those days are gone, and although willing to help where needed, its nice now and then to camp without them. though this rain is beginning to get on our nerves, not being able to get about, sites flooded, cold days, thinking we should of bought a boat !!!!!. good luck and happy camping wherever that might be.
my son bought one of these for the ''summer'' and we also couldnt fatham out these ties, we had the tent up in 6omph winds down cornwall back in august, and it with stood lots of rain and gales,,what we done was had some awning rubbers and tied them to the dangling ties toddles, to stop the wind whipping up the flaps, worked ad treat
had a couple of little leaks but will spray it all next year, very pleased with it lovely tent ,easy to erect!!
Hi, we would stick to our motorhome IF that were possible BUT that is not to be hence the sale, but we will not give up our camping so we with tent + car + little "penny" (dog) here we come. so -"CARRY ON CAMPING" good camping to you all ( maybe even see you around !!!!!
The rule of thumb as to which way to peg stormflaps is...if they're split at the poles, they tuck under the groundsheet. If they're continuous then they peg outwards.
now thats EXACTLY what we were looking for, did'nt think the flaps went UNDER the groundsheet therefore going INWARDS. just goes to show = even at our age you can always learn IF you are prepared to ask, and not think the older you are the more you know.
thank you.
