I think that a windup torch is ideal as an emergency backup. After all, when you really NEED a torch is not the best time to find that the batteries have died

I have 2 of those torches for my girls when sleeping in the tent at night. They wind them up and leave them on next to their sleeping bags as a night light/ going off to sleep and they love them . Definitely good torches and well worth the money.

Yep, me too, the kids have a wind-up in the bedroom as a night light, and it stays on all night, just wind it up again in the morning and its good to go again. Brilliant.
