I don't know if I am allowed to leave this post here but just to say this is a good bit of kit.  Before we got the Thule bars we used this with our 27 kg 13 foot kayak and it was just fine.  If storage is an issue then it packs down really small unlike the roof bars which are ginormous!  They seem well made and robust.

used to have one it was ok except the strap that went through the car, my head was always getting caught on it and for that reason it went and roof bars installed.

My first post!

I got this package back in late summer, only used it once and it worked very well apart from when it rained!!  Because the HandiRack straps come through the car (2000 Vectra) water managed to get in! luckily it had only just started to rain (be it very hard) as we got to site so we didnt get dripped on for too long.  The door seals on other cars will be different so water ingress may not be an issue.

It is very easy to fix to the car, holds plenty of stuff and folds down very easily into a small box for storage.

Another thing to watch - make sure your car roof and the bottom of the HandiRack are clean - possibilty of scratching car roof.

We've recently got the HandiRack cheap at Aldi (for the car that accompanies us on some trips - we have a roofrack & box for ours). Anyway, I'm trying to find the best place to get the Holdall. Has anybody seen it cheaper than the £68 that seems to be the general price ont'internet? Or can anybody suggest a suitable alternative?

I was thinking that too... with the fiasco we had with the roofbox flying open on the motorway last year (because it wasn't locked properly) I want to make sure it's nice and secure, especially as it's not my car and I'll be driving it.

Aaaw Sue! Every time I see your doggie pic, it makes me smile - what a beautiful face! I love boxers!

There's currently one on eBay starting at £40 - here.

Thanks for the link nelmo!

Only downside is the postage is £12 so that would make it £52 (if the bid stays at £40) Still it's the cheapest I've seen.

I think I'd still be scared of it flying open/off on the motorway. But thanks for the tip Dee!
