In addition to all of the above can I add that the whole of europe is going digital and you may find that your terrestrial aerial will pick up the domestic television stations.
Whilst I am sure you wouldn't want to watch Portugese 'soaps' do seem to remember that when they show films in Portugal, because it is a 'minority' language, you may find that instead of being dubbed the speech will be in English with portugese subtitles.
Also the sport and weather are pretty much universal needing very little in the way of speech.
