It changes overnight, our area changed over last November from analogue to digital.

With regard to the aerial, there is no such thing as a digital aerial.  If your current aerial receives analogue signals then it will also receive digital signals.

Yes while in Cornwall we used our static status aerial to pick up the digital signal. Dont think there will be any need to change anything

There is a timetable for the changeover.  As Bernie47 says some areas have already gone over.  Here is the official line on the matter.   I know this has cropped up before & some people question if the digital coverage will really reach everyone.  There are some who claim the only method to be sure of decent recaption will be to get a satellite dish.

Hi Steve McV.

You are spot on, the fact is that less people will be able to receive the Digital Terrestrial signal, following total Analogue Terrestrial Switch Off, than can currently receive the Analogue Terrestrial signal!, the CAI are well aware of this issue, not somthing the industry would like joe public to be aware of, also this is the reason why Freesat from the BBC/ITV has arrived, in readiness to scoop up the areas with poor Digital Terrestrial signal, even after the Digital Terrestrial transmitters have been cranked up to 3 times more power than they are currently delivering, it will be a whole can of worms waiting to happen, my advice is get a satellite system.

You shouldn't need to change your TV, a set top box which you can pick up for about £15 will decode the signal for your TV. My mate has his aerial on a snall tripod and seems to work the best. An aerial will cost about £20

Hi allyfinn.

Are you using Digital Terestrial recieving antenna, or Digital satellite receiving antenna?, fact is that Terrestrial Digital will never give you as good a signal as satellite, especialy if you are outside the UK!.
