sorry, I wrote my first message fairly swiftly.  I totally agree about this website being the best source of feedback   The reason I was looking for a book was to narrow down my search and participate in some light bedtime reading and then when I have identified a few sites I would then look at them in more detail on this site.

I love this site!!  Apologies if I was doing it a dis-service

I agree about UK Campsite - excellent, & the reviews are honest.  If it is books you want there arre many, but the thing to remember is that many rely on sites paying for adverts for their sites to be included.  We have been disappointed before..

Alan Rogers guide is good, as is the Big Sites Book from the Camping & Caravan Club.  If you are not a member, ask around.  I'm sure someone on here will give you an old one.  The motoring organisations guides are also good.

This website is the best campsite search tool I have ever used as you get real peoples opinions.
But if you are wanting to read up on the subject, I like the cool camping book as it gives you a brilliant look into some of the best areas the UK has to offer- and it is honest. Only disadvantage is that it only features a few of the best sites ( of mixed standards and facilities )

I bought the Alan Rogers book on recommendation and I actually feel I wasted £12.99 or whatever it was. It does give good details about sites, the surrounding area etc. but not many sites in it.

Ive got Alan Rogers France & UK - I quite like them - I do the same as what you plan on doing have abit of a flick through in bed occasionally but I always come on here and check out the ones I like the sound of and sometimes vice versa.  They are pretty honest in my opinion about what you will find.

Agree with Glyn. If it's not listed on here, it doesn't get my business... Also, if it doesn't have a website, I tend not to go. I like to see pictures of the facilities, and a web-site gives the owner a chance to sell the site to me... Perhaps that's harsh, I just like using the tinternet to book my hols...

This site beats any book.

I would agree with others that this site is probably the best resource, however, I think it is useful to keep a book handy especially if you are touring. I think Cades has the most sites in England & Wales.

When I get my 2009 copy I'm going to use this site to highlight sites I think I might like. Best of both worlds!.

if you are a member of one of the caravan clubs, they will have provided you with there own campsite lists, but as well s that you have a super guide to campsites here on this web pag
e, and here you can actually read what other members thought of the site, with a book all you will get is where the site is located, but nothing about the site,

 I was given the AA caravan and camping guide for xmas. It's quite good. Its got  info on over 1,000 sites that the AA inspects each year.
