I bought a solar charger from Maplins today for my vans battery-

Thick question time but .... how do you know its working, is there any way to check its passing out current?

remember.that size of solar panel will ONLY keep a fully charged battery topped up.

Looking at this thread with interest so what would be the best size solar panel to buy i will be going away weekends for two possible three nights without hook up wondering if i should get a panel to keep battery topped up but what size looking at maplins briefcase one is that any good samandbensmum

I'd be looking at something in the region of 15-20 watts.

That should see you through a weekend no probs.

Most of the briefcase ones would be perfectly adequate for your needs.

Thanks for the replies, sorry I was slow to get back. I have checked it with a multimeter and its working fine.

To clarify, I bought it just to keep the battery topped up between use as I have a mover attached and no leccy where I store. At £14 it was alot cheaper than a mains charger and I do not need to remove the battery.

It would be better if you had a bigger panel than this one ,  a 10 watt panel imo .
