I went shopping yesterday for a tent carpet for my Khyam Ontario 8 and i cam home with 2 picnic blankets 2 travel rugs, A double airbed, a new mummy sleeping bag for the smallest of our children, and a brand new Vango Aplha 300 tent.

I still didn't get tent carpet, so i guess i am now using the travel rugs

i don't even need a nother tent, but we now have a small one for OH to go for fishing weekends with his brother, and for us to have romantic weekends.

i'm not sure how romantic a tent that has been used to store fishing equipment can be but you never know lol

Very easily is how this happens - though I would never succumb like that in a camping shop

Weird how that happens isn't it?! lol

Fortunately I bought the carpet for our Ontario over the 'net and resisted the urge to spend more............ well, apart from a footprint!

OH thought I was mad getting a carpet for a tent..... until our local place had a Quebec up with the same carpet as I bought laid down in it. Now she is a convert after seeing it in a tent and walking around on it. So much nicer than walking on bare groundsheet she now says!

Planned for next year, hopefully!

Summer Solstice wild camp.

Chilled in a Field, July.

Crantock, August. Fouth year with the fantastic Quechua Base Seconds 4.2!
..... and the odd night wild camping in my Argos 1 man tent...

oh i'll still get my tent carpet don't you worry finnboy

Will just take a little bit of time, and i'll just buy it and put it in with all the stuff we take with us, and then he'll never know, well not until we get there.

I know that next time i go i'll go on my own and that way i cannot be distracted at all.

Having said that i am very happy with all i got, although i want more before we go away.

we went away twice last year and i didn't have half of the stuff i have now, i'm beginning to think i may need some extra storage both for the car and at home.

I want new carpet too. I went to have a look in the week with my Dad , I didn't get the carpet either but he got a new sleeping bag a pair of shoes and a couple of new stuff sacks. LOL. I'm looking online for a cheaper deal as the camping shop wanted £50.

i know when i looked the weekend, it was £50 also, but it is worth noting that the ontario has the same size internally as the quebec 8, indiana 8 and kansas8 so it might be woth searching for the carpet for those models also and seeing if you can find them cheaper anywhere else.

I think for now tho i would be happy with my blankets for the floor, unless of course i find one that i cannot say no too, which shouldn't be too hard

Have you been to camping and general at canvey island they have a huge display of tents including ours(i see we are the same), they have lots of things on offer at the moment, sadly tho our carpet isn't one them.

Thats where we went (Canvey). Managed to pick up a Party Grill Combo for £34.99. They have got some good bargins at the mo. We got our tent from there too.Just thought 50 quid was a bit steep for the carpet. I'm sure we will end up with one sooner or later.
