Thinking of going to Isle of wight in August, phoned Red Funnel & Wight Link

Redfunnel wanted £169.00 return

Wight Link wanted £98.50 return - their restriction is that I sail after 15.00 hrs this is a big difference in price.

What are your thoughts on this.

I think I have put it on the wrong posting - I must admit I preferred the old website less chance for me to cock up.

I have emailed red funnel I will post their response when & if I get it.

I think the CC are offering quite a good deal to the IOW if you are a member

If you can book for a car and caravan at that price with wightlink then I would do so as their online prices are over £200 for the same journey in that period.

We are going in July and I have searched around and the cheapest I could find was £115 booking through the C&CC. We are sailing at lunch time on a Tuesday and returning 3 weeks later at the same time, even if we moved the time later I could not get a cheaper price.

The best value is to book the campsite and ferry together as you can usually get some useful discounts as a complete package. The solent crossing must be the most expensive ferry crossingsin the world.

Sorry David but this isn't always the case we saved over £70 by booking the ferry ourselves as oppose to taking the all in price of the campsite, if you can take advantage of cheaper ferry fares offered by the CC or C&CC then it usually works out cheaper to book it separately.

As for Martins post above, unfortunately these offers aren't available during the school summer holidays from July 16th until 1st September so for us and Chalkie this isn't an option.

Well RAY R - I dont understand I tried booking through C & CC today and they said to book direct as they are not competitive. So as long as I travel after 3.00 pm at £98.50 through wight link otherwise the other price would be £115.

We used Tesco clubcard vouchers with WightLink and it made it a lot cheaper.

Hi Chalkie, I booked the offer on page107 of the your place in the country, as I say when I rang Wightlink I was quoted over £200 and the same price seems to apply if you fill in the details online.

We are going last week of July and returning in the 3rd week of August staying at Whitefield Forest, where are you going.

Hi there,
We booked the last few times through the campsite.

Got a special because it wasn't the english school Holidays.
The site was Whitecliff Bay and I think it worked out at £210 including Site and Ferry for 10 days
