We are going down the self-inflating mattress route this year for ourselves and the kids. Our sleeping bags are likely to be quite slippy on the mats - any tips on how to prevent this? Could buy something that was cheap or could probably make something - what would be the best material to use? Any ideas would be great. Thanks.
There was a tip from a soldier posting on an army surplus board I was looking at once who said if you run a tube of copydex over the width of the mat a few times at even intervals down the mat and let it dry it creates a perfect non slip surface for sleeping bags. Never tried it myself as wasn't sure what it would look like but it certainly sounds like it would do the job. I imagine you'd be able to rub it off when you're finished your trip too.
place that non slip matting Delta recommended under the airbeds to prevent creep , i do and it works , and a fleece blanket on top does help with slippage ,
I also have that aluminiumised insulation stuff a bit like the covers for camperwan windows under neath the beds to stop condensation and cold seep.

Or you could use this kind of breathable groundsheet, which is basically the same thing but often cheaper. We had some left over from a piece we bought for a tent, so use it on tabletops etc to stop things from slipping.
