Anyone else ever had a problem with a made to measure LCD TV bag?
We bought one from a reputable company last May. We noticed that the extremely sharp corner of the screen protector had cut the bag during the summer. Brought it home in October and didn't get around to doing anything till now when we went to put the TV back in the bag. Emailed the company and they said post it back and we'll have a look. At the PO they said it would cost £10+ to send because it had to go Parcelforce due to size so I emailed the company again and sent photos of the cut for their information. Their reply - basically 1)it's £4+ to post, 2) it looks like it's been worn not that the internal sharp corner has cut it and 3)it'll be fine because it's rip stop! 4) They'll repair free of charge but I have to pay postage.
I'm not happy. It was damaged very early on and has been used in transit only a couple of times isolated in the shower cubicle on it's own so hardly rubbed to death! When you see the sharp plastic you can see it's cut through - got my finger as well!
I can't help what the PO want to charge - that's the price I was given! No options given by them either.
I'm awaiting a reply but this is not the satisfaction they guaranteed and they said there was a 12 month warranty. Still well within 12 months and I get the distinct impression that while they'll patch it that's all that will happen. It wasn't cheap either.
Just want to know if anyone had similar problems and how they were dealt with - by any company! Not naming company concerned.

The only help I can offer is re the postage. When we ship large/heavy items we have sold on ebay we use a company called parcel2go.com They use DHL and most of their deliveries arrive next day and the cost is £6.79 + V.A.T. Oh, and they come to your house and pick the item up.
Hi, I send parcels by posy and I doubt the price of over £10 is correct , if you send it standard parcels which covers
Standard Parcels
This service delivers to all UK destinations normally within three to five working days after posting. Parcels up to 20kg in weight may be sent using this service with a maximum length of 1.5 metres.
Thanks folks. I have checked out Royal Mail and yes I should be able to send this. The postmaster insisted it had to go by Parcelforce. I thought he was joking as he's that sort of chap and asked if that was first class and what was second class? He said no - it's too big - this after watching me wrap it up and selling me a roll of parceltape for it! I have my suspicions about him and what he does, so today I shall go to the next PO on the way to way to work if it's open and ask there. If they take it I'm going to go back and complain because I've lost a lot of time over this. Not that it'll do any good because he's the postmaster!
The company say they'll repair if I send it. Otherwise stalemate.

Went to a different PO who happily posted it for £4.20. When I get time I'm going to go and ask my PO why they wanted to send parcelforce. I'm sure he was scamming me. Anyway, it's on it's way for repair having had a phone call from company so all should be well in due course.

Why do you need a special bag for a TV anyway, we just pop ours in a large Ikea bag, wraped in towels and pad it with a pillow or something. Waste of money IMO.
Maybe the company would have been more obliging if you had sent the bag back straight away and not left it until now.
Replacement bag received - noted the internal protection sheet now has rounded edges! Happy camper!
Postmaster played innocent! He's been there 10 years so he knows perfectly well he was wrong. He didn't have too much to say when I told him the other PO had queried why he wanted to use Parcelforce! Shan't be going back to him with parcels again. He's refused to stamp stuff I've sold on ebay because I printed stamp off paypal in the past. Said I should have used him. Well he's lost my custom completely now. I have the luxury of 2 other PO's nearby without too much inconvenience which many people don't have!

I agree with Andy. I looked for a suitable bag for ours and then decided it would be safer and cheaper to keep it in the original box.
Fair enough. We found the box awkward as it did not fit where we wanted to store TV between uses and for travelling. For our purposes the bag is ideal. Just thought it shouldn't slice itself to bits with minimal usage.
