Just used ours for the first time - marvellous piece of kit! and fairly compact which suits us fine. Dont know about the self-cleaning part though, or maybe we werent doing it right - anyway, a purchase I'm delighted with!
Yes, I bought one of these last year after much research on BBQs. Absolutely loved it. It's probably the best piece of camping equipment I have ever bought. I love my fish, my OH does not, with the 'Son of Hibachi BBQ' and its 2 grill plates you can each choose what you want. I gave it a quick wipe with a scrub after cooking and it was fine. I can recommend this to anyone.
I paid £50 for mine last year after googling it and finding the cheapest. Below is not a bad price considering how much everything camping related has gone up this year. Haven't checked prices on eBay.
Chaps, would be interested to know what you think the best way of lighting is...bought one of these at the backend of last season so only used it once but really couldn't get it started as suggested in the manual.
I put some paper and a couple of bits of charcoal in the drawer and soak it in lighting fluid.Close it up leaving the drawer open a bit and also open at the top by about 5 or 6 inches then light the fluid.
This works really well , i tried fire lighters but were not as good.
It's a doddle to light and you can be cooking in no time.Skychaserhigh has got it spot on. It is important to create the funnel effect so follow the instructions that come with it and you will have no problem. You don't need firelighters just lighting fuel and some screwed up paper. It really is that easy. It's brilliant.
