If you have a lead with a three-pin plug supplied with you unit then you should find two power connection points find. The 240-volt lead will not fit into the 12volt connection. The 12volt (normally has plug to fit into a cigarette lighter) will not fit into the 240-volt connection.
For the 240 volt the lead will probably look like the ones you get with radios or tape recorders (yes I’m showing my age here) and pushes into the power point which should be on the back.
Have you not got any instructions with the unit? If not you could go back to the shop and they should provide you with some or at least a photocopy.
