I've got a military Turboflame (in green of course) that I just can't refill. I'm using Ronson butane gas (in the yellow can) and I've tried all the nozzles, i've tried it without nozzles, I've tried pressing gently, I've tried pressing so hard my hands shake, I've tried purging it, I've tried it upside-down, sideways and standing on my head. Does it work....? Does it hell.
Any tips/pointers/advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to try some higher quality gas tomorrow to see if that helps.
Purchased some refined pure butane today from Maplin, the stuff they use for soldering irons and portable tools etc. Cleared the Turboflame of all air by turning it upside down and pushing the little brass valve in at the bottom using a thin screwdriver. I shook and warmed up the can of butane using my hands and with the lighter still upside down I pushed the can (with no adaptor on by the way) onto the the aforementioned valve firmly, applying a little pressure for about ten seconds. I then warmed the now cold (good sign) lighter in my hands for a minute or so and hey presto! it lit!

I've tried your method, but still no joy for me. I can only feel the lighter get cold at the bottom after my 10 seconds of gas fill which makes me think its not filling properly.
Might try and hunt down this refined butane from Maplin, mine is only a plain white can with a red nozzle.

You probably need to lower the gas flow, turn the screw underneath in the minus direction and repeat the filling procedure, should work.
It does fill ok, using whatever gas it is the local shop sells - yellow, so maybe Swan branded. No need for an adpator. But it does fill very slowly it seems to me, and you can't hear anything - takes a while before I get to see any in the little window. Maybe give it longer?
