I have a Robens and a Fat Airic. They are both thicker slf inflating mats inflating to 7 - 10cm I think the Robens is slightly thicker. They are good but not as good as an airbed in warm climate. For instance, when we went camping in the summer I would use an airbed. For weekend camping in the autumn I used the self inflating mat as it was quicker and offerered better insulation than the airbed in cooler climate. When I go away with my Scouts I use the mat as I get stick from the Scouts. They are sufficiently comfortable to get a good nights sleep

We use Outwell self inflating mattresses and can't fault them, we have the 7cm thick ones and paid about 35 quid each for them but they are well worth the money!!
Went camping in October and February and never once felt cold or damp (obviously we have decent sleping bags as well)
Only downside is that they take up a lot more room than an air bed when packed...
