Does anyone know what the tyre pressure should be for a camping trailer? It is the type with the little wheels (4.8 x 4 - 8), the guy in our local tyre place was unsure and said 30psi should do. any advice would be appreciated.

On my Conway they require 33psi. But without knowing anything about the tyre, 30psi should be OK.

If you have a Daxara 127 or Erde 122 trailer with 480 X 8 wheels the correct tyre pressures are as follows:

Normal loading - 2.5 bar (36 p.s.i.)

Heavy loading - 3.0 bar (44 p.s.i.)

(These are the figures supplied by the manufacturer when I queried the tyre pressure for my Daxara 127).

I hope this helps.

thanks for your help. i have tried numerous tyre manufacturer sites and outlets and while all recommend "the correct tyre pressure" no one "official" can give me a figure.
there must be some sort of formula to assertain the pressure for a particular size tyre and the weight of the vehicle it is attached too.

Info on wheel is as follows,

62m load range B max load 265kg at 4.0 bar, then there is a number- 4.80/4.00-8

does this mean anything to anybody??????? coz it doesnt to me.

Any help will be appreciated, I checked the ytres today and they are both 23psi?????

Thanx

Karen

I think the 480/4.00-8 relates to the actual size of the tyre. that's the number that you quote to get a replacement that's the right size. The 8 at the end relates to an 8 inch wheel, which is the size of wheel used on most smaller trailers. It's really hard work getting a wheelclamp to fit it as well!! Got one from Towsure in the end.

Topicstarter had same sises and karenjg writes 265kg AT 4.0 bar upto M speedrated is 130kmph/ 81mph.
So if your axleload+10% reserve is 2x 265kg= 530kg. You need the full 4 bar.
If it is less, you could calculate lineair, not that bad.

Its B- load ( 4plyrated) so mostly you would expect AT 2.5 bar/ 36 psi., but this extra small tire is exeption to the rule.

I don't know if you're aware but, this thread is 17 YEARS OLD so hopefully the OP got this sorted.

This is possibly one of the oldest thread revivals I've seen 😕.

I've been having this problem with an unbranded trailer purchased off eBay recently.
This post is the best advice on the internet.
