We shall be very interested to hear how this goes Snaz. We have bought one too. We tried it in the lounge, and it does seem to give off a lot of heat. As it needs to hang at least 60cm from the actual tent we could have a few bumped heads. Have a great trip. Hope the weather is good for you!
Just back from our lovely weekend camping at Field Barn Park in Bourton on the Water. The Outwell Patio Heater was just the best camping accessory i've ever brought. It was just fantastic. The heat it gave off was enough to heat a house never mind our bear lake 4. The light it gave off was just lovely, as we walked back from the loos it looked so warm and welcoming. Also I wasn't a bit worried about it falling as it is very lightweight.
I would highly recommend this as a must for all campers who like to be warm and toasty!
Thank you Snaz. I'd recommed it too. It does hang down quite low, but we avoided bumped heads by putting the table bench set in the middle - made it quite a sociable spot to get warm! We loved it, and would echo everything you said, although take care that you pull the cord directly downwards as it did seem to 'catch' at one point and wouldn't come on again. It seemed to loosen itself off after a while and worked again, but this is worth mentioning.
The heating elements are what gives off the light, so no heat no light i'm afraid. We had no problems with the electric tripping out on us. We had the kettle boiling and a hairdryer in use at the same time as the heater.
Can't wait for our next camping trip to use it again.
I mistakenly bought one of these (Camperlands had it at a very good price) but returned it as it is too big for our tent (and extension). Its about 47cms across and must hang a minimum of 60cms from surface above. It is lightweight, however, and very well made, but check it is not too big for your tent/setup. It also cannot be used as a light fitting alone.

I came across these heaters for the first time on web sites tonight and thought they looked like a decent idea. However, I would tend to agree with DD in that it may be on the large size, especially from a packing perspective.
The camp site we were at a couple of weeks ago had a strict ban on "all halogen heaters", so we wouldn't have been able to use it (assuming they can police their rule). Not sure whether that camp site was unusual in banning such heaters. Why would this be do you think? It only had 10 amp hookups, but at 1500W, this heater wouldn't trip even that.
just resurrecting this thread...we have one of these...which I love....but last year we tried it for the first time in our wolflake 7 and noticed that the stitching from the hanging hook was pulling slightly. on the seam....I am now wondering whether to use it or not...and was wondering if anyone has used it for a while in the lake tents and has had any problems.....it was quite expensive and provides a nice heat and light...but I do not want to risk the tent seam which cost a whole lot more....
