Dose anyone use the vacu seal bags for camping, I am trying to cut down on our bulk and figured the by putting the blankets and rugs into these bags it would reduce the size, we do have a Outwell thunder pump which sucks as well as blows so in theory we should be able to use the bags when camping? What do you think?
We have some that we got from Argos and Betterware. Neither of them are much good. They are the ones that you manually compress though, no need for a hoover. We find that they split easily or loose their compression and gradually increase back to their original size. Maybe the hoover ones are better?
We have some that need the air sucking out and some that dont
The ones that need air sucking out... well used twice then "pop'
The ones that have to be rolled.... hard work to roll and for the space it saves IMHO not worth the effort but there are plenty of people who have decent ones and are happy with them
We bought some of the suction ones from Costco and used them last weekend and were great for saving space as I took far too much bedding that was actually needed. They were great going as could use the hoover, but with the electric pump with the largest attachment we just couldn't get as much air sucked out as you can with a hoover, so don't expect them to go as flat for the return journey. However I have just seen the outwell thunder pump which may be more powerful so would be interested to hear if anyone finds it easier with this. Generally though we definitely saved quite a lot of space using them.
i use them but as previously been said, not much cop. ive had loads, everymake, cheap and expensive. everyone so far has split or got damaged in the car. i use my airbed pump deflator to vac them on the way home.
We bought one to pack our two sleeping bags in. And its useless. we used a powerful Henry Vacuum cleaner on it and it still didnt do much. two days later it was back to original size. Ah well back to the drawing board.
you cant pack sleeping bags in vacumm bags. something to do with the material they are made of. i once looked into it. it weakens the fibres they are made of. in fact you arent suppose to store your sleping bags in their little storage bag. im sure someone on here once told me that.
Got ours from argos, used them last weekend, worked a treat, although not as small on the way home as we just used our airbed pump. Only problem was our puppy escaped from the boot of the car and managed to put her claws through one!
We have just started to use the non-vacuum compression bags from Argos, and they are great. I guess time will tell if they do leak and go back to original size though.
I have managed to fit 2 bath sheets and a hand towel, and 2 woollen blankets in the bag that one sleeping bag came in - a huge saving on space.
I also plan to pack our clothes in them to save on space.
