Hi, we recently renewed a load of our camping gear that we had had for ages (have gone from a caravan to a small campervan so space is a big issue) and over the last few weeks have used them all - here are my thoughts................

Son of Hibachi BBQ - great piece of kit.  It has two sides to it, each the size of a small disposable bbq.  Heats up and ready for use in no time. Mostly we use both sides but when we are only cooking for 2 and especially when there isn't much food left to cook we only need to use the one half.  The snuff out pouch does a treat especially when it is raining or windy.  I havent worked out the self-cleaning part to it though but can live with that!  Good size if space is an issue.  All in all I consider it a great investment.  It is also called the grilletto.

Delta pegs.  Used them a couple of times.  Fairly windy last weekend and awning didn't budge.    Have yet to be tested in severe weather but I think on last week's performance they will be a great asset.  Would like some for really hard ground though - any info on if and when they will become available?

Changed our single open camping gaz burner to one that comes in its own carry case and folds up.  A much better, and I consider safer, option as it is much more stable and has the facility of closing off the gas canister.  Also easier to store away.

Roll up tables from Tesco.  A bargain (got 2 of them at less than a tenner each - thanks for the poster that led me to them!)  Great for storage if space is an issue and because they take up little room it is a bonus being able to take 2, one to put all the cooking stuff on and one to drink gin around!

Quechua 2-second, 4 berth, pop-up tent.  Really does pop up in seconds and pegged down in less than 5 minutes.  Same time to put away.  Excellent for when we are only going away for only a night or so and can't be bothered putting up the bigger drive-away awning.  Enough room to stand up in and can sit 4-6 round a table.  Plenty of room to store stuff.  A big advantage is drying it it it gets put away wet.  Pop it up in the garden and dry in no time. Another great investment.

Have to mention hubby's Christmas pressies, a 7 piece telescopic fly rod that fits into a tube about 18 inches long - he said it's every bit as good as his "normal" one and he caught 3 fish with it.  And also a telescopic spinner.  Again a great rod.  Both excellent space savers and proven to "do the job".   The fly rod is his favourite!

ps - a tip that has just sprung to mind for campers - a pringles tube with lid is great for cutlery.  We have used ours for the last year but I feel a new tube coming on!  (any excuse)

Hope this is helpful!

Ahhh that Pringles tip is great - I usually store ours in the jug, which is fine until I need the jug.  And an added bonus is I can get the little one to decorate the Pringles tube before we next go away and get an afternoons craft activity, too!  If I leave the tube as is, she'd be in it constantly looking for the crisps.  Lesson learned from last time we went away and she disappeared into her playpod and was suspiciously quiet....was munching her way happily through the tube of Daddys Pringles!
