Pumped up our stove to cook dinner on the first night of our easter trip, opened the valve and fuel started dripping from the point where the generator meets the valve assembly. It was the first time it had been used since last year. I didn't bother to test it before we went as I didn't think there would be any problems. It spent winter in the garage, it's not rusty and never been knocked about. It's a year old but only been used on 3 or 4 trips (about 30 days worth). Surely it doesn't need a new generator already ? Has anyone got any ideas what it could be and if its fixable ?
cheers
Have you accidentally overfilled it? put it on a level tabletop and unscrew the filling cap. The level of fuel should not reach the rim of the filling hole.
Best to fill it about ¾ maximum. If overfilling it might come out as a spray when pressurising or drip from the generator into the evaporator when inserted in the contraption. Good luck!
It can be a problem with the single ring Colemans as there is a temptation to tip the stove so that the hole s upright. You must not do this as already said it leaven no room for the air above the fuel. Also check the gland nuts around the valve & flame controls. they should just "nip" the control passing through them.
Hi - have been having probs with our Coleman Dual Fuel Double Burners in the last year - leaking fuel and not burning properly. Anyhow I contacted Coleman and they gave me the name of their Authorised Repairer in Torquay. Sent the stoves off (well the tanks and generators) and the lovely man Paul has fixed them for us!!! Apparantley there are parts in the stoves which degenerate over time and stop the stoves working properly. He will service your stove for £7 but you do have to pay the postage both ways. He did give some handy hints and tips on how to prolong the life of the stoves between services/repairs though - don't store with petrol in and use Super Unleaded petrol (far less additives to corrode the workings of the stove).
Hope this helps
