After struggling to fit in all our camping kit + kids into our picasso we finally decided to fork out on a roofbox. I'd done my bit of research on tinternet and decided to have a look around halfords to gauge the size of these 320L, 410l boxes etc. Not seriously looking at buying as they seemed a bit pricey on there website.
When we got there to look around they had a number of ex-display boxes they were selling for what I think is a great bargain (i've been wrong before).
Picked up a 470Litre roof box for just £89.99. Brand new just ex-display!
Just need to get some roof bars now - refused to pay £55 + £25 for the feet. Ebay here I come!
------------- I'm new to this camping lark - all help and advice, no matter how obvious it may seem, is greatly appreciated!
Easter - Golden Sands, Mablethorpe
June - Thorpe Park
July - Wild Duck...wooohooo
Thought about the trailer but don't have a towbar and I'm a bit of a skinflint and wasn't willing to par £150+ to have one fitted and then pay for a trailer.
Thanks for the advice Gail, I'll certainly be keeping my eye out! Got over a month before we go away again so no major rush!
Of course that means I've got plenty of time to get more camping stuff to fill up that extra space

Don't want to relieve myself on your marshmallow-toaster (PC way of saying it ) but you'll find the bars are pretty expensive as well.
After many hours on the net (including eBay), best I found was £95 - there were some cheaper ones for about £60 but preferred to spend a bit more on Thule...
Hi Nelmo, managed to drop on another bargain on ebay. Just bought Thule bars and footkit 750 for my Picasso for just £34. Obviously 2nd hand but pic and description seen pretty good
Only problem is I've now got a 200mile round trip to pick them up. Fingers crossed they should be worth it though.
Then it's just a simple matter of fixing it to the car :)

You're gonna think I'm a git but you realise that is at least £30 in petrol? So for another £20 or so, you could have got them new, with instructions and warranty.
Sorry, I'm being obnoxious (there's another word but I can't use it here ) - makes a change to get anything on eBay less than from a shop!
We bought a roofbox for our car when we started camping and realised we could not fit everything into the boot. The roof box soon filled up. We then bought a bigger car- an estate - and then we bought more stuff that we absolutely needed and ran out of space again. We have bnow bought a BIGGER car a Mitsubishi Delica and if we cannot fit everything into that then I might as well give up.
