Hi can anyone give advice on the kind of battery needed for a caravan molver. we currently use a leisure battery that appears to be insuficient for use with the mover.
It depends on what you use the battery for; if you're on electric hook-up on site and not using the battery, you could possibly get away with an 85 amp/hour battery, but a 110 amp/hour is preferable. Either way, if you are using your battery on-site (for lighting/fridge/whatever), you'll need to find some method of recharging the battery, otherwise you'll be able to use the mover when you arrive, but not when you depart.....

Somewhere between 85 and 110 amp hour. Some specify the 110 but I have managed with an 85amp hour and my current 100 amp hour. Are you saying you don't have enough power? If so it could be that it is not being charged enough or of course, depending on age, it may need replacing.
I've just had to change mine and I bought a 110 amp because I've now got the mover. They take a lot of power from the battery so, although the 85 amp was fine as far as it went, it obviously takes more of a beating than the larger one.
My van won't take a 110 aph battery, the locker is a tight enough squeeze for an 85 aph one. I sometimes use a hitch mounted mover and it's fine.
When we first started caravanning we never went on pitches with EHU and an 85 aph battery was plenty for up to a fortnight away, although we didn't use a mover.
If you use EHU then the battery should be fine to move the van when you get home, unless it needs replacing or the charger isn't working. Or if it's an older van there may not be a charger fitted.

There have been a number of posts on here about this, apparently a motor mover will run for over a hour and a half on an 110Ah battery, so an 85Ah battery should be fine for this if you are on EHU.
