Hi can anyone give advice on the kind of battery needed for a caravan molver. we currently use a leisure battery that appears to be insuficient for use with the mover.

please help cheers

Somewhere between 85 and 110 amp hour. Some specify the 110 but I have managed with an 85amp hour and my current 100 amp hour. Are you saying you don't have enough power? If so it could be that it is not being charged enough or of course, depending on age, it may need replacing.

I use an 86amp leisure battery from tanya.

this battery is very much lighter than other batteries and I use an intelligent charger which is in use whenever i hook up on site.

i use this for the movers and have not had any trouble with it for the last two years.

110 amp for mine.

I've fitted a 110Ah - but measure your battery box! Mine fits by a few mm, but some older units will only take an 85Ah.

I've also got a reserve battery I'll leave on charge at home just in case I'm short of juice when I get home (I'm usually camping without hook up).

My van won't take a 110 aph battery, the locker is a tight enough squeeze for an 85 aph one. I sometimes use a hitch mounted mover and it's fine.

When we first started caravanning we never went on pitches with EHU and an 85 aph battery was plenty for up to a fortnight away, although we didn't use a mover.

If you use EHU then the battery should be fine to move the van when you get home, unless it needs replacing or the charger isn't working. Or if it's an older van there may not be a charger fitted.
