In the UK Calor is by far the easiest to got, and is stocked by a lot of campsites. It's also cheaper to buy and use than Camping Gaz. The penalty is the larger bottles, so if you don't go away very much the price difference may not be such a problem.

Note also that the 4.5kg Butane Calor also has a screw in regulator!

You could use the small Calor Patio Gas but I'm not sure it's quite as easy to get hold of.

We have the Safari Chef & use both Calor & Camping Gaz with it depending on where we are - as said no Calor refills in mainland Europe & only a couple of places in Ireland.  You need the right regulator to put on the rubber hose.  Fasten with a jubilee clip. 

I sometimes wonder about the EU.  Of all the silly pointless things they have done, how come something sensible like telephone sockets, electrical sockest & LPG bottles have been left to each country to standardise themselves?

Hi - we have a similar question with the Eazi Chef (we are tent campers).  Our main concern is to find the smallest bottle that would be suitable for 5 - 7 night trips.  Also, should we be looking at propane or butane?

We have been supplied with a Patio Gas propane cylinder and regulator - but this seems bulkier than we would have expected - are there any better options?

I often wonder about the EU. lol.

However, imagine the uproar if every house, office, factory etc had to be rewired to suit European 2 pin standards! You can be sure the rest of Europe would not standardise on our 3 square pins.

Mind you gas bottles would be easier to standardise, and why don't Calor offer the deposit back for returned cylinders?

So is the Patio Gas bottle (with the sticky-out handles!) the most compact size we can hope for?
