Being of the old way of life I use a Primus for all heating/cooking.Does anyone know any safety reason why I should not use kerosene (the stuff used for central heating) instead of paraffin? Have tried it and it just smells a bit more.Would like to keep my eyebrows...Chris.

For all intents and purposes it's the same stuff, work away, no worries. In fact, kerosene is a recommended fuel by Primus for their stoves, paraffin is just the UK name for it.
If you take the stove abroad look for Petrolio in Italy, Petroleum in Germany ... here's a link to various fuel names around the world.

International Fuel names

If you have iffy fumes when using the stove, the stove might need a bit of an overhaul.

Check out Classic Camp Stoves for a great site with loads of info and a really helpful bunch of stove nutters.

Enjoy the Flame.

Thanks Spudz,

Can't find your name. Thanks for the super and speedy reply with all the info' I will ever need.I like the photos, and a thing never seen before, the wind shield for lighting! I favour the old pressure stove because my main use for one is on a boat where gas can be a real hazard. This is only my second posting on what looks like a super site...Chris.
