We have a Royal Vegas 8 tent that we have used for a couple of seasons with no major issues. At the end of last year we left the zip-in-groundsheet in the garden to dry before putting away. Unfortunately one of the family pets (a rabbit - soon to be ex-rabbit) took a shine to it and before we knew it had carried out a few alterations of his own (extra windows and doors etc.).
We put it away in disgust and with a lack of time to do anything about it. We've now bought a Outwell Idaho XL and I want to get the Vegas repaired so it can be sold on. On recent inspection there are a couple of larger holes (a few inches in diameter), and lots of smaller "chew" marks/holes over about half of the ZIG. Royal don't do this tent anymore and so a replacement ZIG is out of the question.
Any suggestions for a both effective and visually pleasing repair? Failing that, can someone advise as to the water-proofness of rabbit skin when used as a ground sheet repair material....?
Can't comment on the rabbit skin but I have fixed groundsheet holes with duct tape very successfully but these are possibly a bit big.
Have you asked Royal about a replacement ZIG? Just because they don't do the tent anymore they might still do spares?
Otherwise hopefully someone can point you in the direction of a tent repairer in your area.
I think your problem might be selling the tent this way, using it yourself like this would be fine but I can't imagine that anyone would want to pay very much for it?
I would try and find a replacement, or se if you could get someone to make you one, might just be more cost effective to sell as seen and take the loss after all you can always just use a normal groundsheet underneath the zig as a footprint which would ensure remained watertight!

I would use Tenacious Tape for the repair rather than duct tape. It is made for the purpose and is almost invisible when applied, making the tent far more attractive to would be purchasers.
I'd buy a small cheap groundsheet and piece it in with duct tape for the purpose of selling it on. The buyer will know what they're getting, and you'd have enhanced it's value from its current state.

get a cheap one and cut out patches and sew em in if they that big inside and out or seek out a tent valenting service in fact they could make you a new one using the old zips and pattern.
I wouldn't bother repairing it. Put it up on Ebay for "spares or repair" and include some good photos. You're not going to get much for it in that state so why waste time and effort mending it yourself?
Thanks all for the replies, pretty much the list of options I had come up with. I'd like to get a quote from a tent repairer for a repair or replacement - does anyone know of one in or near north Hertfordshire? I'll also contact Royal and see if they have any spares.
