does anyone use a wok to cook or are they too big for the stoves? Just seems like it would be ideal to use and versatile too, for fry ups and stir fries, stews etc - any tips or ideas please .... thanks
I take a large high sided non-stick frying pan (I think the correct name is a saute pan?) with a lid. I got it from Ikea for £15, and it`s so good for stir fries I use it at home too. You can fry, stir fry, make stew AND cook mussels in it. (Mussels are a favourite of ours in France.) More versatile than a wok, and more stable on a camp cooker.
I always take a wok as well as my Tefal camping pans. It's great for making stir frys, paella, frying mushrooms and is always very stable because it's much heavier than the camping pans so is more stable.
We always take a wok - we find it more versatile than a frying pan. We've got single burners and it works fine. We have got a wok with a flat base, so it sits nicely on the gas ring. Many a good meal has been had - spaghetti bolognase, stir fries, curry, chilli, pasta sauce and vegetables concoctions. We use it for cooking breakfast too.
Yes, we bring one. I found a rather small and light, flat bottomed one, with tefal coating. It's got a handle one one side, which you can split and fold back. We can use one other of the rings on the stove in the caravan. Works very well. Less splattering about than a normal frying pan.
I just bought it in the supermarket, mind you in Holland (the Konmar), rather cheap. I will check wether the brandname is still on it. You should be able to get similar in Britain.
We use the wok pan that comes with the cadac, it fixes straight onto the thing - I reckon anyway - hubby does most of the cooking! We did a paella in it in France mmmm yummy. Just not sure about mussles, I like the ones ready done as the ones in france fresh in the supermarkets had hairy bits attached and when I tried to pull them out my mussle fell apart - bit messy. Hubby just ate the lot - not the shell tho'!

Hi Stu,
You said you use the Paella Pan on your Cadac, what base do you use? We only have the Skollet at the moment, but are considering getting the griddle.
Pat
Hi there,
I use the 'pot stand' with mine, but have used it straight on the bbq grill, with no probs. Make sure you set it up reasonably level tho, as those pans slide all over the place!
Bridge...a Cadac is a gas bbq....quite a brilliant piece of camping kit! In France especially they're great, as lots of sites won't let you use charcoal ones. If anyone tells you that it's not 'proper' bbq'ing....they're wrong. The food is properly cooked inside and out! Not nuked on the outside, and salmonella fodder on the inside!

wlee, where did u get it from? sounds good as we've got a petrol stove with side windshields so don't think we'd be able to use a wok that's too wide
we got our wok from costco for 2.99 even got some goodies to go with it
