I'm looking to buy a new airbed and don't know if I should get a Coleman Comfort double or an Outwell Excellent Double. At Outdoormegastore they are both about the same price. Has anyone tried the Outwell one?

Thanks

We were first timers last year... bought what we thought looked a great Outwell Excellent Flock King Size..... and had to pump it up about 5 times the first night, 2nd night about 6 times and the 3rd night slept on the floor.  Not happy!!!!!

Really annoyed with myself as it was fromOutdoor megastore and I should have taken it back after all we spent a fotunne on new gear with them last year.... but I didnt get chnace so its sat gathering dust.

Need to get something sorted ready for our 2nd trip in June.

Dawn :)

We bought two Single Outwell Excellent air beds this year as my husband was fed up with his feet hanging off the end of our Gelert ones. We both love these new ones ! They are brilliant and we have had no problems with the valves at all. They are much higher than our old ones and have a nice firm edge round them which feels more comfortable.

We have a single and a double and we love them.  Much better than the cheaper value airbed which tend to deflate overnight.  However, they are much longer, wider and higher than other so you need to take this into account if space is at a premium.

Over the years, I've gotten through sooo many airbeds - the 'Coleman Comfort Double' being one of them. It's an alright bed, but like all of mine, ended up puncturing!

The only one which has lasted is this one:

http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1428744-10294381?url=http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3402832/Trail/searchtext%3EDOUBLE+AIRBED.htm

I swear by them now. They're cheap, super comfortable, have no fancy gimmicks and seem to leek NO air. Even after a long weekend, it still seems as firm as it was when it was first inflated!

We have just bought a Coleman Comfort Double Airbed and its really comfortable. I got it for £25 which I thought was a good price after shopping around but they currently have them on Amazon for £19.24 with free delivery!!! They are getting them in stock on 22/5/09,

Hope this helps

We've got the Coleman comfort double.

In fact this is our second one. First one split (where it had been folded in the package) after a single night's use ( & the puncture repair kit didn't hold fast), so had to do an emergency trip to a nearby camping store to get a new bed.

It is quite comfy and I don't notice the weight or movements of my husband; however, I'm very tempted to change it for the Outwell Excellent King size due to the Coleman being so short. (188cm)- so both of us have feet hanging off the end of the bed.

Can't comment on the Outwell ones, but we have a Coleman comfort double and single ,which we bought in 2005.They are both still going strong and don't leak.

Coleman gear is good, Outwell quality is renowned for being superb.

If you're going to buy one I'd go for the Outwell

I have the single and the double outwell.  I bought the single for me and was so impressed with it that I bought the double for the kids.  However, after 2 uses of each, both airbeds burst on us while we were away this weekend and Im afraid Ive lost all confidence in them now.  Looks like we'll be buying mats from now on.

I bought an outwell air bed for my daughter last year, looks like any other run of the mill airded but with outwell on it, saying that though it did hold up ok for the week, see how it goes this year.

Not sure if I agree with outwell being renowned for their quality though magicman, they seem to be experiencing a hell of a lot of quality issues at the moment!

I bought an Outwell Flocked Excellent single airbed from Outdoor Megastore earlier this year and for comfort it is great, especially given it's slightly bigger size and double height. However, it does leak some air and although it is still usable and hasn't deposited me on the floor yet I do need to pump some more air into it every night. At £19.99 I can't be bothered with the hassle of complaining or sending it back (could end up with one the same or worse) so I will continue using it as long as it remains serviceable since it is very comfortable.

Going by what somebody else said in another thread there is a possibility that the airbed gets softer, not through loss of air, but due to the new material stretching and that it may settle down in time and remain firm...one can only hope
