I've taken the bull by the horns this morning and ordered ourselves a Cadac Carri Chef Deluxe from Ebay. It is something we have been thinking about for quite a while, but the choices were so varied.

Would be grateful for any tips.

It says that there is a roasting dish & stand which can be bought separately, has anyone got this and if so, would they recommend it, also what is the difference between the Skottle Top it comes with and the Paella pan that is also available.  Would anyone also recommend the non-stick liner?

I am somewhat excited by our new purchase, and cannot wait to try it out.

Jane

The paella pan is non stick. When it arrives the griddle top has a similar surface and is great to cook on and easy to clean. I haven't got a paella pan as yet but it's defininitely on my wish list. The skottle top is domed but I find it quite shallow to cook with and it does stick quite a bit and being so big it's a pain to clean. Some people love them though. I absolutely love my cadac and I'm sure you will too.

I tried out my Carri Chef yesterday and used the BBQ with the fat tray and deflector. It was really easy to put together and cooked the food well. It seemed to be hotter at the front than the back, i assume this is because this is where the gas comes in. It was a dog to clean though and took a good soaking.

Loved it though.

We use the skottle all the time. Haven't had anything sticking, we use that sunflower oil spray which is really good but the size of it does make it a bit of a pain to clean.

I am sure I have read somewhere on here that someone else had their bag rip, they enquired how much a new one would be from Cadac and was sent a replacement FOC.  It maybe worth a try.

It has arrived! I'm so excited, promised OH he could unpack it, I may just have to take a peek in the box though  , just to make sure all is ok. Looking forward to cooking dinner on it tonight, that should be fun with all this windy weather.

A lot of people sing their praises on here, we were hoping to get one 2nd hand and save a bit, but the ones selling on Ebay were going for nearly as much as the new ones were (once the cost of delivery was added on) as there were none local to us.  I did find one in our local free ad paper not too far from home but it did not have the lid or skottle, only the bbq grill and reversible griddle, they wanted £50 for it that was not too bad, but then if we bought the other bits we wanted, we were nearing the price of the new one again. See you are going to Cobbs Farm, what is it like there? We are always on the lookout for campsites close to home for the odd weekend away, and Bexhill is only about 30 mins from home.

Cobbs Farm is a great little quiet site. Check out my review of it under my profile. We are off there at Whitsun - our second visit this year!

Just debating here what to buy at the supermarket when I collect the kids from school. Have decided to use the griddle part tonight as never cooked on a griddle before. I'm like a child with a new toy - and it is still packed up in the box, I have resisted the urge to unpack it as OH wants that pleasure!
