i haven`t seen anything bout microwaves,p`raps i`m being daft, but does anyone take them camping,on last trip one of the baby`s woke for milk,oh not happy at 2am warming milk, freezing,we have a small one at home just for warming bits and bobs,do you think it would be a little excessive?
no I dont think its a mad idea- not sure about the pinging in the night. can you get portable bottle warmers? we may nick your idea if theres room for the microwave.
I would love to take a microwave in the camper but OH not happy about the weight. Everytime I see 'small' microwaves in Asda, Tesco etc, I cant help but lift them up to check how heavy they are but they all appear to be heavy for their size. Not sure why?
Microwaves are handy but heavy and cumbersome to pack . Prepare a thermos flask of boiling water before you go to bed and use this to make up milk in the middle of the night. You could also keep a sealed bottle of cooled boiled water , and use half and half to get the right temp.
Nothing wrong with taking them, but they are big & heavy. When my son was on bottles in the night, we used to put a flask of hot water up when we had a late night coffee & use that to heat the bottle as Debbie says . Travel as light as you can.
The alternative might be to get your child used to cold milk which my health visitor friend assures me is the latest idea. Sterilise bottles as usual then fill with the right amount of boiling water and let it cool. When you need milk, add powder, shake it about and feed. No problems needing to heat anything and no risk of scalding milk in one part of the bottle when the rest feels cool. A friend of mine did it with both of hers and they were happy with room temp milk and it was quicker than heating it up.
Failing that a flask full of hot water at bed-time but I would recommend going down the cold milk route...

Remember a good wife always helps her husband with the dishes.
I think the flask too. A health visitor once told me cold milk is fine too so I gave cold bottles to my son when we were out on a long walk in the country. He spent the whole evening being sick. It could have been to do with something else but as it was a cold day anyway I don't think it did him any good. We never tried it again just in case. Your child might be different though.
the small ones are light and easy to take, we got one from tescos for less than 20. oo heres you worrying about being ott. i take microwave, iron, straightners, tv dvd etc etc nothiing like home comforts hahahhahaha
thanks all, ours is only small and its not space that i woorry about,i think i`ll take it,they don`t wake often and it`ll save me cuddling bottles at night, then chucking it in the morning,i`ll just have to stop micro before it goes ping!
