I am thinking of treating myself to a new sleeping bag. I have been using a double duvet, sleep on half, throw the other half over me but the wadding is getting lumpy and uncomfortable and I get cold some nights.
I need something that will be warm enough to be comfortable in the mountains on a clear night and okay for the south of France too.
I know I want a rectangular bag. I have looked at Outwell and Vango and can't decide. If I'm spending 40 pounds I want to be sure its going to be okay.
Do you use your Hudson 450's all year round, or only outside of summer? We're thinking of getting some, or the equivalent 450g/m Vango nitestars, but wonder whether it'll get too hot in summer because they're 3 season bags.
------------- Definately a fair weather camper. I don't like rain. Rain + Tent = Trouble.
2011:
July: Galpton, Devon
August: Duinrell, Holland
In the South of France, June/July/August only ever used cotton liners or less! to sleep in, anywhere else I use my SnugPag Merlin Softie, packs down very small, and has always been warm, even late Sept in UK, although I do have the SilkLiner for the SnugPak, never had to use it, but it does add an extra season if required. hope that helps.

Petegt4,

Snugpak are way more than £40 (more like twice that).
Worth it though I think. Their UK made products ( Like Francis' Softie Merlin) are more expensive - they do a range call Elite which can be had from about £50 upwards but these are made in the Far East I believe. Both are excellent quality.
Hi, I totally agree with what the others have said about Snugpak sleeping bags - they are excellent. They are a bit pricey, but well worth the money.
Having said that, the Navigator is an excellent bag and is less than £25. (Comfort level of -2ºc)
It doesn't pack as small as the Softie or Elite ranges but lovely and warm and comfortable. My OH and I use them and they are our best selling Sleeping Bag.
