Have members got any advise on portable toilets, after a 25 year break we are back camping in tents and loving it.We would like to go to events& meets where own sanitation essential required, can somebody please reassure my wife who is very dubious about all this i.e.can you empty them and clean them on site my wife is very nervous about having one in the car and I have to admit so am I
ours has been invaluable. you see many people emptying them and cleaning (at the designated area) and well, go for it really. for a weekend away we put the chemicals in the loo before we go and bring it back empty-no probs at all-don't think they'd exist if they leaked!!
Agreed, Mrs V8 has a dislike of the 'midnight wander' and the 3yr old would happily visit every loo in the uk forty times, so our own 'facility' was a 'must'. We've got a campingaz one- very good, v heavy when full- so best to empty/clean every 2 or 3 days.
We have one of the the Fiamma ones i laughed at the OH and her mate when they bought it last year but it saved a few quick 3am gallops to the toilets after a few cans! easy to use and clean there is a new chemical on the market that you use in both the flush and the tank so you only have to take one bottle with you all in all a good bit of kit. don't hesitate get yourself one
------------- I Think Therefore I Am I Think? eh? If all is not lost where is it?
We also have a Fiamma and it is one of the best things we ever bought. Very easy to fill and clean and never had any problems with leaks or nasty smells.
I have the bigger version of the outdoor revolution outhouse, which I use as a cooking tent. Good quality, very stable in high winds, takes 5 minutes to erect. pack size is very small too, like a large rolled up beach towel .
I would recommend a double toilet tent rather than a single, I'm not the smallest person in the world but even my slinky friends find it better to have a bit more room... especially when the drinks have been flowing!
