This may be a realy stupid one but when im transporting my gas bottle must i disconnect the regulator on the top or is it ok to just disconnect the camp cooker and leave the regulator attached to the bottle??????????
Hi. The regulator should be permanently attached to the hose which should then be fixed to your cooker. So, leave the regulator attached to the cooker but disconnect from the bottle.

We only use the gas for our three-way fridge now and because we use BP-Light I find it more convenient to leave the regulator on the bottle with the hose coiled around the neck. Being recessed with a carrying ring around it the regulator is safer there than rattling around inside the trailer (and leaving the hose and regulator connected to the fridge is a pain because there's no logical place to stow it).
Because I got fed up with the struggle to get the hose properly over the gas coupling on the fridge, I bought an inline quick-release connector last year, so a short piece of hose stays permanently attached to the fridge and it takes a second to push the click-fit connector together or to pull the quick-release collar to disconnect. If you forget to turn the gas off at the regulator, the connector has an automatic shut-off valve so you never risk a gas leak.
On the subject of fitting the hose PROPERLY to the regulator and appliance, you all know how hard it can be to get it all the way over the 'bumps' and pulling it off again afterwards can be a nightmare. Consequently, I have seen many folk with their appliances running with the hose only just covering the first one or two bumps... even the latest Camping-Gaz catalogue has a cooker badly connected!
My hose is fully over all the bumps of the connector and I never need to disconnect it owing to the natty inline coupler.
Ah, you say, but what if I need to run several appliances from the one bottle? Easy... just have a short piece of hose attached to each appliance complete with an inline coupler... switch from cooker to fridge to lamp to heater (or whatever) in seconds.
------------- Please do not adjust your mind... there is a fault in reality
