Seen these camp beds for sale at a local store called the range, Look similar to one i used to sleep on whilst a boy camping with the family.

They look a good price anybody use one similar?, what are they like? better than airbeds?, thinking of getting two at least for the kids, really want to upgrade my camp equipment to make camping life enjoyable

I have the quick fold campbeds which are great but need foam or a self inflating mattrass over them for comfort . Last year got fed up with this arrangment and tried ready beds , which were comfortable but overall a bulky solution . The rest of the family are going to try ready beds on carpet , but I'm looking at some form of high airbed , The cots you have highlighted are probably better for kids .

Hi Ross. Looks like the sort of thing we used to use when I was camping as a lad - 50 years ago. Seem to remember they were a fight to put together as they were basically four big springs to fit into holders of the sides. The main problem with the ones then was that the fittings on the side rails gradually slid along so the instead of being rectangular they became paralellograms - and dump you unceremoniously on the floor in the middle of the night. They may have changed since then though.

Pete

We bought two off the same type from Argos after having a second airbed get a puncture when on hols at easter.  they probably aren't the comfiest and if you have a sleeping bag on them they can slide about a bit, but I'd never go back to an airbed now!

I much prefer these to airbeds as I find them warmer. I put a self-inflating mat on the top, lovely snuggly duvet and my bed socks and I'm out for the night (and morning too if I can wangle it!)

As already mentioned, they look a bit on the narrow side. I've been looking to get a camp bed of this style, as I stupidly gave my old ones away when I moved house and had no space at all to spare. I thought these would be too narrow. Perhaps an ex gov. store would have wider ones, but so far I've had no luck finding any. I believe my old ones were made by Campari, but not sure. I used Tenacious tape to repair my inflatable bed, but it wont work on the flock side.

Back again. The above posts reminded me. We were kids at the time and they were wide enough but parents did have wider ones.
