Be quick if you want a good deal on a sleeping bag...just ordered two!

Code didn't work for me but even with the £5.95 postage it's still the cheapest total price I've seen this bag at. And DS has just asked me for a square end bag.. (and he's growing an inch a month at the moment!)

This one? That's the standard one, not the XL. You're right though...no delivery charge for over £25.

So, the one at Sportswarehouse (£30) is the regular 300 square, 220cm length but only 80 cm width, enough for most people.

The XL one at Marshalls (£30+£6) is 235cm long and 110cm wide. That's huge. I think that for the average person you'd loose the benefit of having a mummy style bag, you might as well as get an envelope style, it won't be as warm. 

Note, the Weird Fish code is only for Weird Fish clothing lines, not applicable for this bag.

Also, I just considered, that my tent bedroom is 220cm long, so the 235cm would be too long for many.

Hubby has the equivelent sized Vango Astral XL sleeping bag. It is huge but has never caused him any problems as to whether it will fit in a pod or not. It's not like an airbed...you don't sleep on it flat!

Yes, square ended bags are not as warm as mummy bags and very large square ended bags are less warm than standard ones....unless you're big enough to fill it up of course, like Hubby! But some folk just don't get on with mummy bags (Me, for example) and are willing to go with the reduced warmth for increased comfort. And there's plenty of room for a liner in there if necessary.

No. The XL is 15 cm longer and 20cm bigger round the chest.

Hi Val, what do you/your OH do about packing a mega sleeping bag for transport? I have got a really big square end 4 season Vango sleeping bag - generally referred to as my ChavBag because it has a burberry check lining - which is really comfy but only came with a rather large, basic storage bag without compression straps. I've looked at buying a compression bag in shops but am not sure that any of the ones I saw would be up to the task. Have just bought some straps to put cross-wise around the storage bag,like string round a parcel, but am not very hopeful about the neatness of the outcome.

Any thoughts?

We have two Astrals and I agree...the carry bags are ridiculous! I bought them two largish stuffsacs and now they're not that much larger to pack than a normal Nitestar mummy bag. They squash just as well as an ordinary bag.

However the Astral carry bags are still worth their weight in gold...fabulous for toting the towels and dirty laundry around. So don't throw them out!

Just wanted to bump this up to say Ta again to DC...my new Nitestar XL arrived today and son and I already have had a squabble over who's going to get it, lol. DS had already announced he wanted my Astral and used it last weekend...but somehow he's changed his mind and wants the Nitestar.

Hmmm...

(Wish I'd got two, actually.)

Oh and Merry? This one came with a large stuffsac with compression straps. Still bigger than a standard Nitestar bag by quite a bit, but smaller than the ones I've been using for my Astrals.

I think all the bags have gone now, glad you got in early! It cant have been that bad a deal, despite what others said......it's always intresing to learn that you can get a smaller one cheaper somewhere else!
