Just purchased a Campingaz double burner and grill. Never used a cooker this big before as have used a single stove with one of them tiny cans. Anyhows I need to buy some gas to get this thing working. Got a regulator and hose with it, told i need a 907 canister at 45 quid and then a futher 20 quid to fill it up. Is this usual cost, do i have to use 907 cannister. I found some empty ones on ebay. Would these be ok, or likely damaged? Sorry to ramble on I haven't a clue.
We use that stove, got a 907 cost £48 new and filled. I think Go Outdoors do it a lot cheaper and refils are around £15.
If you are going to use it alot consider getting a Calor and the matching regulator.
You do not have to use campingaz , you can use any gas as long as you change the regulator to fit.
the price you quoted is correct for campingaz , but the secondhand ones will be just fine, when they are empty , you take to the shop and they swap it for a full one.
try carboot sales, ebay , local tip or scrap metal yard for old ones. I got a couple free from tip.
most economic is a 4.5kg calor gas cylinder. It holds almost twice as much as a 907, but is only about £15 for the gas.
Yes it is the norm and the start up cost to get a 907 is very expensive, I did see them on Friday for a touch under £40.00 for a new full one
Get a cheapie from e bay and just take it for an exchange but make sure it has got the handle as most suppliers insist on this to exchange them
I have a calor 4.5kg blue and use it on your stove it is a bigger bottle and works out cheaper than a 907 at around £13.00 for a refill and a regulator for the calor can be had for around a fiver
Go to your local recycling centre or you local tip and see if they have any empty cylinders that you could buy again the going rate is around a fiver so savings can be made
