we are off away for few days and need advice on heating our awning, the kids are in the bedroom annex and if it gets cold will need heating, so is oil radiator or blow heater best, any help thanks,
I always worry that bedding will get kicked onto a fan heater although they are good at heating up the space. We have both and put the fan heater on while we are up and the oil filled rad over night.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
i have been a big advocate of the small oil filled rads up until recently, but they are only just warm enough to take the chill out of the tent.
however, i have just purchased a rather attractive dimplex daisy 2kw fan heater..
Fan heater is lighter & smaller but makes a little bit of noise. Keep it away from anything that could block the vents. Oil filled rads get hot enough to melt plastic. Ruined a bivvy bag a few years ago on one trying to dry it.
I used a fan heater our first season away but found the noise a bit of a pain, so I now use a convector heater that I bought from Focus it has Three heat settings 500W, 1000W, and 2000W it heats up the awning in about 10 minutes on 2000W. And is completely silent.
another plus point is it is Very light, negative side it is a bit bulky. This is a simmilar heater from Argos
We use a fan heater and we find when it is on all night the noise isn't a problem. You get used to it and it acts like 'white noise' so outside noises are less obvious.
Don't waste money on a temp setting one as this is annoying when it cuts in and out throughout the night.
We use a fan heater with thermostat. We set it on low and leave it on all night - it just clicks on and off as and when needed. Never had a problem with condensation and it's the best £2 we've spent on camping stuff!!
I have two blow heaters in the awning, turn the fire off in the van or on 500watt`s. leave the door open a little at night. warm as toast in this weather.
