Going on holiday with our 7 month old son in a couple of weeks and want to take a washing machine so I don't have to carry 3 weeks of clothes for him!!

I like the look of this one, but how much water does it take to fill up and can it be filled from a non-pressurised environment? Any other comments on it? Worth having?

TIA!

We took our boys away from about six months old and never had need of a washing machine, we simply washed by hand.

Most sites have a laundry room with coin operated dryers much more efficient than a portable one, and it would take an awful lot of washes to recoup the cost of buying the twin tub washer.

I was going to suggest that you use the on site washers too. Most of them are the big industrial machines, so you could get a big load in. I dont think the twin tubs are very big to be honest. I saw one in GO the other week and my wife commented that they wouldnt really wash more than a couple of pairs of pants.

I have one of these and it is fantastic and saved me a fortune on the onsite washers.

The wash quality is better then my home one and it only takes 15 mins on a full wash, also the spinner was extremly well, again better then my home machine.  All in all i would highly recommend it, you can actually get quite a bit in although you can;t overfill otherwise it doesn;t spin.  It takes about 3 maybe 4 bowls of water but we didn;t refill after every load probably more like every other load.  The down side is you have to empty the water and fill with fresh to clean the soap powder out the clothes but that's not really a big deal.  It actually saves you time sitting in some laundry room on some site.  You don't need to use a drier because it spins so well things dry really quickly.  When we was using ours quite a few people watched in a amazment at how well it preformed and were seriously considering purchasing one.  I have hand washed before and it's no fun on holiday, your hands hurt and go dry and it take ages and your clothes never feel clean in my opinion.

You just fill using a bowl/bucket and we used hot water from washing up sinks/hand wash sinks

You can;t knock these unless you have actually tried them.  I also know someone else who has a large family like myself and they really rate it too.

Load size: from memory last year, We are a family of 5, we was doing washing about every 3-4 days and that was an outfit a day each and doing about 4-5 loads The whole thing probably took about 1.5-2 hours but that is still quicker then the washer and driers on site and one load on a site must cost you about £7 by the time you have washed and dried.  Obviously though if you are only going away once and only using it for one holiday the savings won't add up.  It's a purchase you are going to have to use for it to save you money in the long run so bear that in mind before you purchase as it may be cheaper to use the onsite machines

We have one, love it, believe me saved us a fortune , Not good for towells, or jeans or anything adult sized but for babies bibs, babygrows, baby clothes absolutely wonderful.

You will not regret it, no more faffing washing by hand.

We done adult jogging bottoms I am sure we done jeans but probably only washed them on their own and a towel on their own.  They are excellent aren;t they, I can't rate them enough for a family and anyone on a tight budget

This a regular argument, some people seem happy with spending holiday time sitting feeding cash into the site laundries (if you can find it empty and working!). For me I can't imagine the pleasure.

Five minutes getting it going outside the van once a day, then sitting down with a good book for a while seems a lot more preferable.

Those who actually have one all seem to love them.

Financially, how do you justify taking a TV or buying a Cadac or Cobb, or even buying a newer caravan?
